Blocked ears or discomfort caused by ear wax buildup can be frustrating. At Veritas Pharmacy, we offer private ear wax removal appointments at our Sunderland clinic, delivered by trained clinicians in a professional healthcare setting.
A trained clinician will assess your ears before recommending an appropriate treatment method.
Our service uses microsuction, irrigation, or a combination of both, depending on what is most appropriate following a short clinical assessment.
The fee for earwax removal is £50 for a single ear and £70 for both ears. We do not charge for an ear check; we only charge for the removal
Your ear canal generates cerumen, often known as earwax. It is created to keep dust, bacteria, organisms, and foreign objects from entering the ear canal. Additionally, it reduces irritation of the ear’s skin caused by water. In some individuals, the wax can become hard and impacted over time, causing problems such as hearing loss or discomfort.
The signs and symptoms of blocked ears depend on the severity of the ear wax build-up. Generally, the symptoms can include:
Our ear wax removal service is designed to help manage symptoms associated with excess ear wax safely and professionally.

Before any procedure is carried out, a trained clinician will assess your ears using specialist equipment. This assessment helps determine:
Whether ear wax removal is suitable for you
Which method is most appropriate
Whether alternative advice or referral is needed
If ear wax removal is not clinically appropriate, we will explain this and provide guidance on next steps.
It is recommended that you use olive oil ear drops for 5-7 days before your appointment to soften the earwax. Olive oil ear drops can be bought from our pharmacy.
Microsuction involves the use of a gentle suction device to remove ear wax under direct visual guidance. This method allows clinicians to precisely target wax buildup while monitoring the ear canal throughout the procedure.
Ear irrigation uses controlled, low-pressure water to help flush out softened ear wax. This method may be recommended in suitable cases following assessment.
In some cases, a combination of microsuction and irrigation may be used to achieve effective wax removal, depending on the consistency and position of the ear wax.
The method used will always be based on clinical suitability, not preference alone.
